Flower power

It's officially winter. How do I know this? I had to put my quilt on my over my duvet last night, although that could just be because my room is permanently freezing.

I'm going to a party in.. two weeks? And I don't know what to wear. I've been specifically told to look 'hot', which pretty much means body-con, body-con and.. push up bra. Unfortunately, that's not exactly my style, so I'm in a pickle over what to wear. I've been planning a dress on my mannequin, but when I managed to finish arranging pins everywhere and was finally satisfied with the end result, I realised that I still had to sew it. How am I meant to work out how to take it off the mannequin, sew it, then end up with the same thing I had on the mannequin in the first place! This is all much too confusing. I think I need a bit of Christopher Kane to calm myself down.

I love the way in which they start off simple, but vibrant in colour, then move onto the bright lines creating detail down the dresses, and then to link in the patterns, the lines are put on them. It's very clever because it makes all of the pieces in the collection relevant to each other. I love all of these! They're slightly brighter in colour to Kane's usual stuff but in a really good way.

I went to some really lovely little vintage shops in the covered bit of Brixton market yesterday, and got some shoes and a fur collar. I'm planning on adding a little flap to the under side of each side of the collar so that I can wear it on it's own, or put it over the collar of the coat that I've nearly finished.

Luckily the heels aren't too big because otherwise I wouldn't really be able to wear them that much, but they're a good mid height so I wore them today. (I just noticed the carpet marks on my ankles.. lovely.)

Shirt, Zara
Trousers, Carrefoure
Shoes, Brixton Market

I'm secretly really happy that I can finally wear warm clothes, which is even more vital today because I'm ill- on a Sunday! I've lost my voice so badly that I tried to sing along to a song yesterday and all that came out was a squeak.
(LESS THAN THREE MONTHS UNTIL CHRISTMAS.)

Somewhere over the rainbow is Prada

I wouldn't expect me to like this ad campaign, but I actually think the plastic-ness of the whole thing is really nice. I especially like the see through shoes at about halfway through. I had a look at the collection too and it's really good.
I've really been neglecting my blog lately, I'm so hubbledy jubbeldy at the moment but I'm going to try and post every other day from now on.
There's a new film coming out soon called Somewhere, and it's by the same person that made Lost In Translation and it looks really good, I tried to put the trailer on but I don't really know how to work Blogger because it just put's up two of the same video.
My friend lent me some nail varnish and it's soo nice, I'm going to have to buy it myself. It's green matte. I've never really come across matte nail varnish before, and I love it !

Apologies for the VERY bad quality of the photo, my camera is out of battery again so I had to use the camera on my laptop which really isn't very good.
(There's an empty post below this one, which is really annoying, but I can't get rid of it!)

Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes

I've just discovered a really good market in East Dulwich every Saturday from some time in the morning to about five, it's got great vintage clothes and some jewelry too. (I don't know how to spell jewelry..) Lots of things are changing at my house- first and foremost being that my brother moved out today! Sad times.. but he's so close so not much will change, hopefully. My bathroom is also being redone which is very exciting because I've had to try and live with bright orange tiles since I moved here, which hasn't been fun- believe me. Also, my brother's ex-room is being turned into a TV room, and to go in that, we're getting a NEW TV! No longer will I have to suffer in front of a ginormous chunky telly, it's flat screen from here on out.
I also got a dressmaker's dummy, finally. I've been looking for one for a while now and my mum had finally agreed to buy me one from John Lewis about a week ago, but that wouldn't be until Christmas. So while we were in East Dulwich, trying desperately to find some birthday presents for two of my friends, we stumbled across a vintage dressmaker's dummy! I, like any normal person, love the old fashioned ones but they are often not adjustable and so they never really seem to fit me but this one is adjustable! I'm thinking about covering it in some flowery material like they have done at Liberties (unfortunately there's comes with a £1,995 price tag..)
Wait, what's that on the dummy? Oh yeah. That's just the coat I'm making.. I don't think I could have said that in a more smug way, but for once I am entitled to a bit of smugness! It's not quite finished yet, which is so annoying because it would have been finished weeks ago if I didn't have friends to distract me.. damn friends. It's almost finished though, there's only the hem at the bottom to do, and I need to shorten it a bit too because it's reeaalllyy long at the moment. The photos aren't very good because it's night time and so there's not much natural light and camera's always make everything yellow at night.. well they do for me anyway.
I didn't go to fashion week, but I'll definitely be at a fashion show soon.. It's just something I Have to do.

MIU MIU

School's been a tad bit hectic lately so that's why it's been like three days since I last posted, it's hard to find time to post during the school week anyway! My friend keeps telling my that three days is normal for the time between a post but i like posting everyday!
I need to get a Miu Miu collar so badly...
They're so nice.. ah I want one I want one..
This is so annoying, I wrote this post already but then I deleted it all by accident and I had to re-write it because I couldn't work out how to get it back.. clever me.
I am doing work experience soon but I don't know where to do it, I want to do something to do with art, obviously fashion would be my first choice though but I'm not sure where I would go to do work experience in fashion..
I just realised that I haven't covered Fashion Week at all! I might be going on saturday with my friend but we haven't bought the tickets so that probably isn't going to happen.. I really want to go to a fashion show though, I'll have to do a bit of research on what's on at the moment (unless I end up going to fashion week, which is so much cheaper than you'd think!)
I want to post what I wore today, but my camera has decided to stop working so I'll post my outfit tomorrow.

Blogger doesn't work!

I'm so sick of the way my clothes are organized, and there really are just too many of them for the system I have now so I'm going to swap my boring mis-matched wardrobe and draws for a big fat wall of shelves. I might get the Ikea Stolmen thing, or i might just get lots of shelves put on and then paint them white.

I've been in love with the Miu Miu collar for so long and it's gotten to a point where I've had no choice but to make my own one. I feel like such a cheat for doing this though, like I'm betraying Miu Miu. I would put up a picture of my collar and the actual Miu Miu ones, but for some reason Blogger isn't letting me put any pictures up, which is really really annoying, but I guess I'll just have to do without any photos for once..

I just got home from my first GCSE Photography lesson which I'm really enjoying and I can't wait to actually start taking some pictures and developing them too! It's a short course and so I'll have finished it by the end of this year, which is good but it also means that I'll have a lot of work to do and a lot of people have dropped out in the past because the work was just too much for them, so I hope that it won't be the same for me. I had my first GCSE lessons in lots of subjects today and so far I'm actually really enjoying school at the moment!

It's fashion week which I would really love to go to at least one of the shows, I might go to the Acne one but it's pretty soon, meaning the tickets will be expensive and they probably started off expensive so whether I'll be able to afford to go is questionable..
I really hope the photos start working soon ...

Back To School

First day of year ten! I was completely dreading school this morning, but when I got there it wasn't bad at all. To be fair though, we didn't do any work and it was only a half day so it was just meeting up with all my friends.
I'm reading the best book at the moment, The Picture of Dorian Gray. They made a film about it a while ago, but I didn't see it and it looked awful anyway. But the book is very very good, it's so imaginative and clever. Not to mention gripping.
"There were moments when he looked on evil simply as a mode through which he could realize his conception of the beautiful."
You just don't seem to find this kind of book nowadays, the only difference that there seems to be in modern books is the genre and within that everything is so similar.

Anyway, this is what I wore to school today.

Cos dress, Bag from a French yard sale, Clarks Desert Boots, Tabio tights

I'm going shopping tomorrow with my friend, and I'm going to buy some new shoes because I only seem to have brown shoes for some reason. I think I'm going to get these Clark's wedges, but I also love some Urban Outfitters white lacy ankle bootish things. I couldn't find a photo of them though. I would get them, but they are pretty pricey and I also think that they would probably fall apart and get dirty very quickly so unfortunately, I don't think so.

But I don't know whether to get them in black or sand! The black ones do look like Acne Acatomos.. hmm tempting.

Westwood is in the hooouuusse

I went to the Vivienne Westwood exhibition in Selfridges today and it was Fantastic, she's totally mad but her shoes wouldn't be the same if she wasn't. I think you really need to be a bit mad to create such amazing shoes. I couldn't just put on a few pictures, I had to put loads on! This is actually less than I took though, I took 45 photos. Every shoes I walked past made me go ooh aaah.
There was also a video in the exhibiton of one of her runway shows which was really good, a toy cat was thrown at her! I think I'm going to have to go ginger when I get old.. It really is a good look.
Forty years of making incredible shoes (and clothes) really is very impressive and to be 70 something (?) and still going strong is even better! Just by looking at these photos I took you can see how fearless Vivienne Westwood has and is with her designs, she has made everything! Tall shoes, short shoes, snake skin ones, shiny ones, plastic ones, wooden ones, kid's ones, winged ones, well the list would go on forever but you get the point.

This is when Naomi Campbell fell over on the runway in some ENORMOUS Vivienne Westwood shoes. I'm not surprised though, they're SO big.
And in a post a few days ago, I mentioned the new shoe department in Selfridges. I popped in today whilst I was looking at Vivienne Westwood and it's already pretty big but there's much more to come, I'm so excited! I wanted to take some pictures but they didn't let me, so this will have to do.

... Just one week until it's finished ...
